Oyster Bar in Grand Central is known as one of the best seafood restaurants in the City. They have one of the largest menu selections of seafood and a great location and amazing space. I go back each time hoping that the oysters will be as good as it is reputed but unfortunately, they never live up to my expectations. For the freshest selection of oysters, I would still go to Aquagrill. That said, Oyster Bar is not without its merits. I tried the pan fried jumbo Florida soft shell crabs and the pan fried Dover Sole which they deboned for me. The soft shell crab was cooked in garlic herb butter, a mouth-watering combination, and the tender and fresh Dover Sole was a nice light entrée that matched my selection of G. Boulanger Saumont Mercurey 2001 Côte Chalonnaise Burgundy perfectly. The wine selection at Oyster Bar also should be commended, although the knowledge of the wait staff leaves much to be desired.
