A futurist experimental rock project that’s definitely off the beaten path, Battles falls under the category of “math rock,” a rhythmically complex, guitar-based style of experimental rock music. While some tracks on the album aren’t that accessible, the adventurous nature of the musicianship is impressive. This is not for everyone, but a lot of great art isn’t. Sounds like something you would hear in ’07… 2107.
