Like Amy Winehouse, this disc takes you back to the vintage soul of yesterday. Even the cover looks like it was shot in the sixties. Sharon Jones has a powerful and inspiring voice, especially when you consider that this is her second career; she is a former corrections officer at Sing Sing. Add in the pulsating musical contributions of the Dap Kings, and you are in for a treat.
