Sushi at Sasabune is a true joy because the fish is extremely fresh while the restaurant is relaxed and unpretentious. The restaurant’s motto is “trust me” because it’s omakase (chef’s choice) only, and that’s how sushi should be enjoyed. At Sasabune, you are in good hands with Chef Kenji Takashi, so you will be served the best selection of sushi. His specialty is the blue crab roll that ends the meal, but there’s lots of delicious nigiri zushi (hand pressed sushi) to enjoy beforehand. The plates just keep coming until you say no, so feel free to ask for more.

If you can’t sit in front of owner/sushi chef Yasuda-san, change your reservation to when you can. Not only are his craft and creations amazing, but he is also a real conversationalist with a lot of personality. The minimalist and spacious interior and sushi bar make a gorgeous and comfortable dining experience in addition to the great food.

Got an expense account? Then head on over to Midtown for a treat at Kuruma Zushi. The fish is fresh and the sushi very good, but beware if you don’t set a budget for the sushi chef. It’s a misnomer that you need to pay an outrageous amount to eat well, since even if you set a limit at $30-$40, the chef will be able to serve you a very decent meal with some of the freshest selections.
