The house salad at La Esquina is so well balanced and fresh, it’s the ideal starter to a satisfying meal. Organic baby greens tossed with avocado, dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, and topped with queso fresco (fresh Mexican cow’s milk cheese), sesame seeds and crispy tortilla strips, the ingredients are perfectly proportioned, giving you a taste of everything without overdoing anything. It’s a simple but downright good salad, and that’s rather hard to find.

I love The Tasting Room for all its homemade goodies. From ketchup and mustard, to salts, jams and even sodas, it’s all homemade! The orange cream soda is all kinds of wonderful, bringing back a sense of nostalgia for old-fashioned, wholesome goodness. The great part is that it’s not too sweet and only slightly effervescent. If I had kids, this is the kind of soda they’d be drinking. Different syrups are available seasonally for various soda concoctions. Try them all!

Pistachio cake, raspberry purée domed inside a citrus mousse-y cream encapsulates this little bundle of joy that looks like a snowball. The citrus mousse is so light and fluffy that it’s kind of like eating snow, you have to keep tasting to make sure you didn’t miss any of its purity. Pistachio, raspberry and citrus are just a few of my favorite flavors. It’s as if Iacopo Falai were answering my prayers.
