These are undoubtedly the best pork buns in town! Yes, though I usually have a pretty strong voice, I have not felt this convinced about a dish in years. As a snack on Fatty Crab’s menu, one order serves two buns with thick slices of juicy pork belly. The relish that’s served on the side is meant to be added onto the bun and eaten all together. This includes slices of hard-boiled egg, cilantro, radish greens, pickled radishes, shallots, long green chiles, and a side sauce that’s a mixture of kecap manis (a sweet Indonesian soy sauce) and sriracha (the ubiquitous Southeast Asian hot sauce). The flavors are rich and linger on your tongue for the rest of the day, but it’s the imprint it leaves on your mind that counts!

Homemade tofu deep fried. How good could that taste? Well, the texture of the tofu within the deep-fried skin is so tender and silky smooth that it tastes like custard. My friend could not believe that it was tofu rather than egg. It’s cooked in a brown sauce with baby corn, carrots, onions and mushrooms. A taste of this homemade tofu will dispel any misconception that bean curd is unappetizing. Tofu is one of the most amazing foods because it can take on so many forms, textures and flavors. Try it!

I’d never had a tea sandwich that tasted better than it looked until I tried the tea sandwiches at Fatty Crab. Dainty as they may seem, they are the perfect snack. A drink at the bar with some tea sandwiches was more satisfying than some entire meals I’ve had. You have a choice of pork or shrimp. Pork is amazing, but try both, and don’t stop there.
