Pastry chef Heather Carlucci-Rodriguez (formerly of L’Impero and Veritas) makes virtually addictive lassis at Lassi. Flavors include mango, coconut, rose, cardamom, coffee, lemon with roohafza (my favorite!), salty and vanilla. Sometimes there are additional special flavors such as roasted peach. The lassis are premade, and a good treat to enjoy while waiting for your food. Though the tiny Indian restaurant is named after this delicious yogurt drink, that’s far from the only thing that’s good here. Everything is fresh, clean and light, in contrast to the typical Indian food in New York City. The daily specials, parathas and, of course, desserts are wonderful tummy-tickling treats too!

Kati rolls can be described as griddled paratha wraps with a variety of fillings like chicken or beef tikka, but that doesn’t do them justice. This Indian street food is yummy and inexpensive. The only problem with this fast food joint is that it’s usually not so fast. My favorite roll is the unda aloo (egg and spicy potato mix). Definitely get two kati rolls per person. You’ll need the second to fill you up and to satiate that craving.
