Send in your answer by midnight today and you will automatically be entered into the drawing to win one pint of pumpkin and one pint of peppermint stick ice cream from Adirondack Creamery. Winners will be contacted via email. Prizes will be delivered, so this Baking Friday is only open to participants in Manhattan.

I can’t believe that next week is Thanksgiving already!

I love the flavors of Thanksgiving, especially pumpkin. Pumpkin pie is one of my favorite desserts. I could have it all year long, but the seasonal aspect makes it even more special.

This year, Adirondack Creamery has come out with two limited edition holiday-themed flavors: pumpkin and peppermint stick. The pumpkin ice cream is made with pure pumpkin and a special blend of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger), and the peppermint stick is made with Altamarie’s handmade peppermint candy.

The pumpkin ice cream (photo above) tastes like a subtle pumpkin pie in ice cream form. It’s very light but still captures all the spices that I love about the pie. And the peppermint stick is a fun alternative to mint ice cream with pieces of candy cane mixed in.

This week two winners have the chance to win one pint of pumpkin and one pint of peppermint stick ice cream each from Adirondack Creamery.

These special flavors will be sold through January 2009. Find out where you can buy Adirondack Creamery ice cream here.

This is second of our 2008 holiday gift list and give-away tie-in promotion! We’ll be back with more after Thanksgiving week.

Thank you, Adirondack Creamery for another Baking Friday contribution!

Of course the best part is the interaction with family and friends…but I’m thinking you’re asking about the food! ;) I am a huge side dish fan—I probably wouldn’t even notice or care if the turkey was missing from the action, as long as I have my cream-braised brussels sprouts, thick mashed potatoes, roasted root veg, and oyster stuffing!!! I can’t WAIT!

Dessert! This year I’ll be making the chocolate pumpkin cake that was featured in the NY Times last week.

seconds! i’d also have to throw corn pudding in there.

Biscuits…cheese, sage, thyme…whatever — as long as there are home made biscuits at the table I’m happy.

Definitely the turkey, with some crispy skin and gravy. Heaven!

Turkey! Juicey turkey is delicious on Thanksgiving and perfect for leftovers! I am like the father in a Christmas Story with gleaming eyes for turkey. I also love homemade mashed potatoes. Yummmmmm….. p.s. I love Adirondack Ice Cream. For those who have never tried it, their flavors are fresh, distinct, and natural. Also, their ice cream is completely organic without any added hormones!

My mother-in-law makes a baked alaska every year for Thanksgiving dessert. She changes the ice cream flavors every year and adds her own touches to the flavors as well. And then there is the home-made chocolate sauce. Its a wonderful, delicious, fun and unusual family tradition that makes us feel special.

I love the vegetarian stuffing and onions in cream sauce my mother makes. I hated pumpkin pie as a kid, but now I love it!

I enjoy a side dish of roasted brussels sprouts with almonds and spiced pumpkin cheesecake loaded with alcohol. Just the ticket!

family is very important and food is very important to the family… my favorites are the casseroles – the three green bean one with the watercress, fried onions, and crispy cheddar cheese is the best – and all the pies! for me, these truly represent the americana of the holiday.

My mother-in-law’s yams steamed with brown sugar and soy sauce.

Home made cranberry sauce, I prefer it with nuts. Mmmmm and my other weakness is stuffing! I could probably have a meal of just those two things.

Stuffing…dressing…whatever you want to call it; I like to think of it as pure carb heaven. As far as I am concerned the turkey plays second fiddle to this so called “side dish”.

The best part of eating Thanksgiving meal is the fact that you’re going to have leftovers! And you’ll get to eat these delicious holiday foods all week long!

Me too – definitely the stuffing – any kind as long as there are no mushrooms and no oysters. And really good gravy over it. Then the candied sweet potatoes and next, cranberry sauce. A good homemade cranberry sauce is nice, but Ocean Spray is also great.

I LOVE the sides. Especially stuffing!

Katy Conway

I love two things equally: stuffing with plenty of celery and sage…and a really good homemade pumpkin pie.
