I love Anita Lo’s perennial seafood dish,
“Miso Marinated Sable With Crispy Silken Tofu in a Bonito Broth”.

Avra on E 48th for a big seafood plateaux with 2 or 3 of your closest friends and a few bottles of rose. Nothing better!

It has to be (although I don't support the cause) Esca, it's all about the fresh seafood. From the urchin to the grilled crocker fish. Always fresh, simple and tastes like the sea. Second favorite is DB Bistro… something about an Alsatian's (head chef) hands at the controls. How does he do that skate wing? Oh, yeah oysters at Blue Ribbon as well.

The tea-smoked salmon with eggs, on the brunch menu at Public. Mmmm…

Rock Shrimp Tempura with Wasabi Sauce at Blue Ribbon Sushi. It is physically impossible to stop eating them. Perfectly crisp, perfectly light, the brine of the sea with the heat of the wasabi . . . mmmmm. I also agree with William, above— everything at Esca.

forget seafood at a restaurant! now is the time of year to head on over to the fish market and take your goods to the beach. boil lobsters, steam clams, grill fish. they need nothing else but a squeeze of lemon and maybe, just maybe, some clarified butter. simple, easy, and you get to enjoy the summer evenings outside.

It’s a toss up between the razor clams at Casa Mono and the soft shell crabs at Le Gigot.

Poached lobster with chorizo at Daniel.

I love the horse makerel sashimi at Blue Ribbon in Brooklyn. They get must get the live fish, and the sashimi paltter comes with sashimi pieces placed on the head/skeleton with garnish. You eat it with garnish an ginger. After you’re done eating the sashimi, they will slow fry the bone/meat and you get cruchy high calcium cracker! It’s yummy twice!

I also like EN Brasserie’s sashimi special of the day. Always something interesting. Raw octopus, fluke fin (engawa), sayuri, etc.

In summer, I’d always rather head out of the city for seafood — “Lunch”, in Amagansett, has amazing fish ‘n’ chips. But if you can’t get away, BLT Fish (downstairs, of course) makes you feel like you’re at the beach.
